How to make type A and type B nutrient solution for hydroponics

Type A and type B nutrient solutions are used in hydroponics to provide plants with the necessary nutrients for growth. Type A is used for the vegetative stage of growth and type B is used for the flowering or fruiting stage. Here’s how to make a type A and type B nutrient solution for hydroponics:
Type A (Vegetative Stage) Nutrient Solution:

  1. 1. Mix the following in a container:
  • * Calcium Nitrate (15.5-0-0) – 3 grams
  • * Magnesium Sulfate (Epsom Salt) – 2 grams
  • * Potassium Nitrate (13-0-44) – 4 grams
  • * Monopotassium Phosphate (0-52-34) – 1 gram
  • * Trace elements like Iron chelate, zinc, manganese, boron, etc.

  1. 2. Add water to the container and mix well. The final solution should have an EC (electrical conductivity) of around 1.2 to 1.8.

  1. 3. Adjust the pH to between 5.5 and 6.5 using a pH adjuster, such as sodium hydroxide or phosphoric acid.

Type B (Flowering/Fruiting Stage) Nutrient Solution:

1. Mix the following in a container:

  • * Potassium Phosphate (0-52-34) – 2 grams
  • * Potassium Nitrate (13-0-44) – 4 grams
  • * Magnesium Sulfate (Epsom Salt) – 2 grams
  • * Trace elements like Iron chelate, zinc, manganese, boron, etc.
  1. 2. Add water to the container and mix well. The final solution should have an EC of around 1.8 to 2.2.

  1. 3. Adjust the pH to between 5.5 and 6.5 using a pH adjuster, such as sodium hydroxide or phosphoric acid.

  2. It’s important to note that these recipes are guidelines and that different plants may have different nutritional requirements. The EC and pH levels should be adjusted according to the specific plant species and environmental conditions. Always consult the instructions on the nutrient package to get the best results and avoid over-fertilizing, which can be damaging to plants.
