How to use Fish emulsion in hydroponic

Fish emulsion is a liquid fertilizer made from the by-products of fish processing and can be used as a supplement in hydroponics to provide plants with additional nutrients. Here’s how to use fish emulsion in hydroponics:

  1. Dilute the fish emulsion: Fish emulsion is typically sold in a concentrated form and should be diluted before use. The recommended dilution rate is usually 5-10% fish emulsion and 90-95% water.

  1. Add the fish emulsion to the hydroponic system: Slowly pour the diluted fish emulsion into the hydroponic system, making sure to distribute it evenly.

  1. Monitor the nutrient levels: Regularly monitor the nutrient levels in the hydroponic system, including pH and EC, and make adjustments as necessary. Overuse of fish emulsion can lead to nutrient imbalances, so it’s important to use it in moderation.

  1. Repeat the process: Repeat the process of adding fish emulsion to the hydroponic system every 2-4 weeks, or as needed.

  1. It’s important to note that fish emulsion contains a lot of Nitrogen, which is important for vegetative growth, but it also contains other essential nutrients like Phosphorus, Potassium, and trace elements. You should use it in combination with other nutrient solutions and adjust the frequency and amount accordingly to your plants’ needs.
  2. Also, it’s important to consider the smell of fish emulsion, it can be quite strong and unpleasant, so you should use it in a well-ventilated area.
